DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Clara E. Koelker, 95, of Dyersville, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville, following a sudden illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Jerry Kopacek officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

Clara Elizabeth Lueck was born on Feb. 25, 1910, at home, in New Vienna, daughter of Anton and Elizabeth (Kramer) Lueck.

She married Edmund L. Koelker on Jan. 23, 1940, in New Vienna. Together they farmed north of Dyersville for many years until Ed preceded her in death in 1978.

Clara was a friendly and loving person who enjoyed a good conversation with anyone. She was always truly interested and never judgmental.

Surviving are a sister, Sr. Helen Esther Lueck, FSPA, of La Crosse, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Hattie Lueck and Hildegarde Lueck, both of New Vienna, Mildred Koelker, of Dubuque, Ruth Koelker, of Dyersville, Alma Vaske, of Dyersville, and Cora Gerken, of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers-in-law, Aloys "Allie" Lansing, of New Vienna, LuVern Koelker, of Dyersville, and Allan (Marian) Koelker, of Petersburg; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Lawrence, Herbert and Raymond (in infancy) Lueck; four sisters, Olive Deutmeyer, Rose Lueck, Agnes Lansing and Clotilda Lueck; brothers-in-law, Gregor Deutmeyer, Clete Vaske, Victor Vaske, Charles Gerken and Lawrence Koelker; and sisters-in-law, Irene Lueck and Marguerite Lueck, Lucille Vaske and Anna Mae Koelker.
