DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Herbert H. Tauke, 86, of Dyersville, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Mike Tauke officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

He was born on June 20, 1918, in rural Dyersville, son of Louis and Anna (Klostermann) Tauke.

He was a true man of farming in which he farmed the family farm his entire life.

He was known as "Uncle Herb" to his nieces and nephews.

Surviving are a sister, Eileen Hoeger, of Dyersville; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Tauke, of Luxemburg; and two brothers-in-law, Charlie Burkle, of Dyersville, and Herman Geistkemper, of Earlville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Marie Tauke, Luetta Burkle, Annetta Geistkemper and Inez and Irma Tauke, both in infancy; and three brothers, Arnold, Ambrose and Leonard Tauke.
