CASCADE, Iowa - Mrs. Irene M. Leyendecker-Till, 87, of Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, formerly of 609 Second Ave. SW, Cascade, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at the care center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthias Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Joseph Wolfe, MFVA, Rev. Dan Krapfl and Rev. Dan Knepper officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Worthington. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

She was born on June 16, 1917, in Cascade, daughter of John and Margaret (Hemmer) Dehner.

She married Silverius Leyendecker on Oct. 19, 1937. They farmed south of Worthington for many years. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1958.

She later married Francis Till on Jan. 22, 1966. They owned and operated Till Hardware and Till-Didesch Funeral Home. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1976. She continued to run the hardware store until it was destroyed by fire in 1980. She also operated the funeral home until she retired in 1992.

Surviving are two sons, Steve (Christa) Leyendecker, of Mount Prospect, Ill., and Rick (Karla Cigrand) Leyendecker, of Iowa City; seven daughters, Rose (Nick) Wolfe, of Cascade, Marge (LeRoy) Gassmann, of Asbury, Jean (Richard) Polfer and Linda (David) Burger, both of Worthington, Judy (Jerry) Lammers, of Dyersville, Mary Leyendecker, of Hazel Park, Mich., and Kathy (Patrick) Hayes, of Simpsonville, S.C.; two step daughters, Janet (Lee) Schoenbeck, of Wilmington, Del., and Joyce (Mike) O'Brien, of Cascade; 34 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Cool, of Sun City, Calif., Vi (Bob) Frasher, of Guttenberg, and Rita (Joe) Beck and Margaret (Bernie) Ernzen, both of Dubuque; a brother, George (Bernadine) Dehner, of Clinton; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Dehner, of Alton, and Lucille Till, of Cascade.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ed Dehner; two sisters, Mary Knepper and Florence Dehner in infancy; and two grandsons, Jeff Lammers and Mark Schoenbeck.
