DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Linus A. Thole, 84, of Dyersville, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Jerry Kopacek officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7736. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m. and a VFW Service at 7 p.m.

He was born on Feb. 20, 1921, in Petersburg, son of Frank and Eleanore (Fangmann) Thole.

He was a veteran of World War II.

He married Bernadine Hoeger on Aug. 21, 1951, in Guttenberg. They farmed until their retirement in 1985. She preceded him in death on Aug. 11, 1994.

He was a lifetime member of the Edward W. Lake VFW Post 7736.

Surviving are a daughter, Janet (David) Weber, of Milwaukee; three sons, Duane (Mary Beth) Thole, of Dyersville, Alvin Thole, of Dallas, and Dale (Linda) Thole, of Petersburg; 11 grandchildren, Emily, Robert, Luke and Daniel Thole, Jennifer and Justin Weber, Matthew, Andrew and Tyler Thole and Randy and Melissa Thole; three sisters, Alice (Richard) Olberding, of Dyersville, Viola (Irvin) Klosterman, of Manchester, and Rita Mae (Floyd) Feldmann, of Sand Springs; three sisters-in-law, Clarinda Thole, of Manchester, Bernice Thole, of Dyersville, and Ardell Hoeger, of Garnavillo; and a brother-in-law, Mark (Darlene) Hoeger, of Cedar Rapids.

He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence, Francis, Charles and Alfred Thole; and a sister, Mary Ann Wessels.
