DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Gilbert J. "Gib" Digmann, 80, of Dyersville, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at Oak Crest Manor Nursing Home, Dyersville.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

Mr. Digmann owned and operated Gib's Tap for 20 years and was later employed by Tegeler's Dairy, retiring in 1980.

He was born on Feb. 11, 1918, in Dyersville, son of Bernard "Ben" and Anna (Wisqickle) Digmann. He married Esther Bildstein on Feb. 28, 1949, in Dyersville.

Surviving are his wife, Esther; two sons, William "Bill" (Jeanette) Digmann, of Dyersville, and Loras (Deb) Digmann, of Dubuque; a daughter, Ruth (Paul) Miller, of Delmar; nine grandchildren, Tracy Hoeger, Ben and Becky Digmann, Noah, Adam and Sara Miller, and Wesley, Jonathan and Steven Digmann; two step-grandchildren, Mike and Pam Boge; and one great-grandchild, Cory Hoeger.

He was preceded in death by a son, Mark, in 1963; a granddaughter, Melisa Digmann; a daughter-in-law, Dena Digmann; his parents; four brothers, Frank, Henry, Clarence and Joe Digmann; and two sisters, Lucille May and Irene Pins.
