DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Esther T. Digmann, 76, of Dyersville, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, following a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 5 p.m.

She was born on June 15, 1928, in New Vienna, daughter of Clem and Oda (Goedken) Bildstein. She married Gilbert J. Digmann on Feb. 28, 1949, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville; he preceded her in death on July 11, 1998.

She was a homemaker who helped her husband in their business, Gib's Tap, as well as working at Coilwall and the former Ertl Co.

She was a member of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. She also was a gift shop volunteer at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville. Esther was a very good cook, especially known for her baking skills. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, bowling and playing cards.

Surviving are two sons, William "Bill" (Jeanette) Digmann, of Dyersville, and Loras (Deb) Digmann, of Dubuque; a daughter, Ruth (Paul) Miller, of Delmar; nine grandchildren, Tracy (Keith) Hoeger, Ben (Rachel Gravel) and Becky (Peter Rauen) Digmann, Noah, Adam and Sara Miller, and Wes, Jon (Ashley Kelleher) and Steven Digmann; two step- grandchildren, Mike and Pam Boge; two great-grandchildren, Cory and Brad Hoeger; two sisters, Ardella (Monroe) Hoffman, of Worthington, and Olga (Marvin) Helle, of Earlville; and a brother, Henry (Eileen) Bildstein, of Earlville.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Mark, in 1963; a daughter-in-law, Verdene "Dena" Digmann, in 1995; a granddaughter, Melissa Marie Digmann, in 1974; and a brother and his wife, Matt and Adella Bildstein.

An Esther T. Digmann Memorial Fund has been established.
