Mrs. Louis (Dorothy) Welty, 74, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Dubuque, died at 9:40 p.m. Friday, May 23, 1997, at Mesa Christian Care Center.

Services were Tuesday at Valley of the Sun Memorial Park and burial was in Shrine of Peace Mausoleum, both in Chandler, Ariz. Valley of the Sun Mortuary, Chandler, was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Welty was a homemaker.

She was born on July 27, 1922, in Dubuque, daughter of Frank and Lena Broessel. She married Louis A. Welty on June 24, 1942, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque. They moved to Arizona 29 years ago.

Surviving are her husband, Louis; a daughter, Kris (Charles) Howard, of Long Beach, Calif.; a son, Kerry (Lori) Welty, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a grandson, Cody Louis Welty, of Phoenix; and two brothers, Roger (Wanita) Broessel, of Dubuque, and Richard (Nancy) Neyen, of Broken Arrow, Okla.
