Phillip Z. Parman, 81, of Luther Manor, formerly of 502 Edwards, Epworth, Iowa, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Luther Manor.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Dubuque Bible Church. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2659 Kennedy Road. Friends also may call from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.

He was born on April 27, 1930, in Sauk County, Wis., son of John and Gladys Pearl (Knight) Parman. He graduated from Mazomanie High School and received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville where he played football and basketball.

Phillip served in the Army during the Korean War.

He married Sallie Kies on Aug. 31, 1957, in Platteville, Wis.

He worked as an administrator at Northeast Iowa Community College for 26 years, retiring in 1993. He officiated high school and college athletics for 50 years.

Phillip was a member of Dubuque Bible Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher. He also was active in Giddeons International.

Surviving are his wife, Sallie Parman, of Epworth; three children, Matthew (Karen) Parman, of Colfax, Iowa, Mark (Susan) Parman, of Wausau, Wis., and Kristine (Craig) Slater, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren, Allyson and Meghan Parman and Ethan and Abigail Slater; seven siblings, Arthur (Betty) Parman, of East Troy, Wis., James Parman, of Mazomanie, Elaine Hansen, of York, Neb., Janice Orcutt, of Greenfield, Wis., Beverly (Gerald) Nelson, of Madison, Wis., Kathleen (Dale) Barsness, of Mazomanie, and Donna (Duane) Obright, of Reedsburg, Wis.; and a sister-in-law, Colleen Parman, of Barneveld, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant granddaughter, Avery Parman; and three brothers, Jack, Paul (Helen) and Allen Parman.
