Edwin L. Wlochal, 59, of 1732 Jackson St., died peacefully Tuesday morning, Jan. 30, 2007, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League and the Tri-State Vietnam Veterans.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1947, in Milwaukee, son of Herbert and Myrtle E. (Weipert) Wlochal.

Ed graduated from the Lansing (Iowa) High School and then he served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Ed was formerly employed at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Dubuque and was lastly employed at the John Deere Dubuque Works.

Ed loved the outdoors and took his dogs on long walks everyday. He was interested in the cowboy life and he loved horses and reading about the West.

Surviving are his mother, Myrtle E. Weipert, of Dubuque; two sisters, Martha M. Wlochal and Anna L. (Bob) Lanka, both of Dubuque; three brothers, William F. Wlochal, Dale G. (Linda) Wlochal and Raymond L. (Robin) Wlochal, all of Dubuque; a stepsister, Florence (Alfred) Olson, of Waukon, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Wlochal; stepmother, Phyllis Wlochal; stepfather, Samuel Weipert; two stepbrothers; and a stepsister.

An Edwin L. Wlochal Memorial Fund has been established.
