Ronald L. Waters, 68, of 2437 W. 32nd St., died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Resurrection Catholic Church. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thurs- day at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Waters was a truck driver, retiring from Molo Oil Co. in 1997.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1937, in Spring Grove, Minn., son of George and Veronica (Schwartzhoff) Waters. He married Shirley Zoll on June 10, 1961, in Waukon, Iowa.

He served in the Army from 1955 to 1959.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Knights of Columbus Council 5513, Teamsters Retirees, and Resurrection Catholic Church.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren, who were very special to him.

Ronnie and his wife loved to spend their winters in Sarasota, Fla., with their sons and families. They made many trips to Alaska, where they enjoyed fishing and sightseeing. They enjoyed hunting squirrels, pheasants and deer in northeast Iowa. Ronnie was always ready for a good game of euchre.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Waters, of Dubuque; five children, Matthew J. (Helen) Waters, of Sarasota, Theresa G. (David) Jungk and Sheila A. Waters, both of Dubuque, Michael G. (Fianc, Nenoska) Waters, of Sarasota, and Dan W. (Ann) Waters, of Parrish, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and a great-grandchild; nine brothers and sisters, Floyd W. Waters, Leonette M. Troendle, Helen J. Dixon, Earl F. (Iris) Waters, Kathryn M. Kirkeby and a twin brother, Donald J. (Ardith) Waters, all of Waukon, Delores M. Lunsford, of Leveland, Texas, Ralph F. Waters, of Soldotna, Alaska, and Daniel J. Waters, of Anchorage, Alaska; and a special friend, Bill Odefey, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, in infancy, Ronald Jr.; a sister, in infancy and a sister, Evelyn Peters; two brothers, George "Stub" and William Waters.

A Ronald Waters Memorial Fund has been established.

Thanks to all his relatives and friends who came to visit, sent cards, flowers, etc. The visits were the highlight of his day when he could relax and share a beer and chat. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Dubuque for their loving and caring concern. A special thanks to Barb, Jane and Lisa.
