Wayne C. Klostermann, 59, of Dubuque, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dwayne Thoman officiating. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

He was born on Aug. 2, 1952, in Dubuque, son of LeVerne C. and Dolores M. "Lori" (Hoeger) Klostermann. He married Lona Reed on May 26, 1984, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dubuque.

After graduating from Wahlert High School, he earned a horticulture degree from Kirkwood Community College, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War years as a military police officer. He then worked as a police officer in Guttenberg, Iowa, and East Dubuque, Ill. He also was the owner and operator of River Valley Nursery and Landscaping, Dubuque, since 2004.

Wayne was very involved in the Dubuque community, serving on the Environmental Steward Advisory Commission and the Northend Neighborhood Association, to name a few.

Surviving are his wife, Lona Klostermann; a son, Jamie Klostermann; his mother, Dolores "Lori" Klostermann, of Dubuque; his mother-in-law, Eva Snider, of Platteville, Wis.; a brother, John (Lynn) Klostermann, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Cindy (Mark) Rupp, of Lancaster, Wis.; brothers-in-law, Dan (Karen) Reed, of Minneapolis, and Jeff (Deb) Reed, of Brooklyn, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Merlin.

A Wayne C. Klostermann Memorial Fund has been established.
