Telegraph Herald (Dubuque, IA) - Thursday, May 26, 2016

Kevin J. Koster, age 41, of Dubuque, IA, was called home to the Lord suddenly, and unexpectedly, on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at home.

To honor Kevin's life, funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016, at Behr Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Shinkle officiating. To celebrate Kevin's life, family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.

Kevin was born on February 16, 1975, in Dubuque, son of Randy and Susan (Clancy) Koster.

Kevin has been an energetic and charismatic gentleman since the day the Lord delivered him to earth. His work ethic was second to none and his career in the food industry started at a very young age. His eager attitude would propel him to begin as a dishwasher and eventually led to positions as a lead cook at such local establishments as the Hoffmann House, Sweeney's and currently the Diamond Jo. A long shift or weeks in row, without a day off, would never rattle Kevin; he was simply happy to be doing what he enjoyed and reaping the benefits of his hard work. Kevin was as big a teddy bear on the inside as he was in his physical stature. If you weren't his friend already, it's most likely because you hadn't crossed paths with him yet.

In his spare time, Kevin thrived on being around fast and loud stock cars, collecting baseball cards and other assorted sports memorabilia, bonding time with his nieces and nephews or even venturing out into the woods for a quiet and relaxing day of deer or turkey hunting. His greatest leisure activity though was definitely camping with family and friends, especially his treasured escapes up to Yellow River with his grandparents. Kevin has been called home to Heaven much too suddenly and early for our hearts to fully comprehend, but we know and trust that he is now in a state of perfect health and waiting patiently to be reunited with all of his loved ones he's left behind.

Those left to cherish Kevin's memory include his parents, Randy and Susan Koster, Dubuque, IA; his siblings, Timothy (Nicole) Koster, East Dubuque, IL, and Amy Jo (Josh) Driscoll, Dubuque; and his maternal grandmother, Grace Clancy, Dubuque, IA.

Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben (Mary) Koster and Charles Clancy Jr.; and also by his uncles, Dan Koster, Leon Gaul and Jim Packer.

A Kevin J. Koster memorial fund has been established.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.behrfuneralhome.com.
