PEOSTA, Iowa - Patricia K. Strane, 85, of Peosta, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at Luther Manor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at St. John the Baptist Church, Peosta, with the Rev. Richard Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Pat was born on March 16, 1926, in Lancaster, Wis., daughter of Celestine and Theresa (Adams) Gockel. She married Paul Strane on Jan. 22, 1947, at St. Raphael's Cathedral and was a devoted wife for 64 years.

She retired from the Dubuque Community School District after a career that spanned 38 years and started in the one-room schoolhouse in Salem Township.

Pat enjoyed traveling, reading and her Lunch Bunch Buddies, retired teachers and friends, at the Thunderhills Country Club in Peosta. She will always be remembered for making lasting friendships, her vibrant personality and her love and enthusiasm for life. She will be missed by many.

Surviving are her husband, Paul; sons, Tom, and family, of Chaska, Minn., Jeff, and family, of Neenah, Wis.; brothers, Joe Gockel, of Dubuque, Dan (Elaine) Gockel, of Denver, Dave (Joanne) Gockel and Tom Gockel, both of East Dubuque, Ill., and William (Charlotte) Gockel, of Kalmes; and a sister, Ruth Hainstock, of Maquoketa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, a Patricia Strane Memorial Fund has been established in care of Paul Strane, 4885 Asbury Road, No. 19, Dubuque, Iowa, 52002.
