Theresa (O'Brien) Osthoff - Quinlan 1929-2011

Theresa (Osthoff) Quinlan, 82, of Dubuque, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Luther Manor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Nativity Catholic Church, with the Rev. Scott Bullock celebrating. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Garden Cemetery, south of Dubuque. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 6:45 p.m.

Theresa was born on July 5, 1929, in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, daughter of Thomas and Crystal (Reed) O'Brien. She married Keith Osthoff on Oct. 19, 1948.

She later married Charles R. "Bob" Quinlan on Dec. 30, 1994, in Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2007.

Theresa was employed at St. Dominic Villa for 10 years.

She was a member of Nativity Parish and the Dubuque Women's Bowling Association.

Theresa was an avid Cubs and Hawkeyes basketball fan. She enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with family. She was very proud of her Irish heritage.

Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Gary (Vicki) Osthoff, of Dubuque; three daughters, Gail (Merl) Hoftender, of Menominee, Ill., Ginny (Jim Wilson) Fett, of Creston, Iowa, and Gerilyn (Brad) Nederhoff, of Waltham, Mass.; three stepdaughters, Carol Ann Cronin, Christine Quinlan and Vickie (Frank) Thomas, all of Dubuque; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Lois Robinson, of Lansing, Iowa; and a brother-in-law, Don Easley, of Harpers Ferry.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Joyce Farley, Mary O'Brien, Betty Boardman, Doris Johnson and Laurayne Easley; and her brothers-in-law, Jack Boardman, Ole Johnson and Red Robinson.

Memorials may be given to the Theresa Quinlan Memorial Fund for later donation to the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps.
