Charles R. "Bob" Quinlan, 73, of 14755 N. Cascade Road, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Nativity Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dwayne Thoman and the Rev. Wayne Ressler officiating. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens Cemetery, south of Dubuque, where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 6. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 3 p.m.

Mr. Quinlan was employed at St. Regis Paper Company (Georgia Pacific).

He was born Sept. 25, 1934, in Iowa City, son of Charles Lyman and Dorothy M. (Welu) Quinlan. He married Theresa M. Osthoff on Dec. 30, 1994, in Dubuque.

Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing pool and was a great fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

He was a veteran of the Army and the Air Force serving in Japan and Korea.

He was a member of Nativity Church.

Surviving are his wife, Theresa; three daughters, Carol Ann (Tom) Cronin, Christine Quinlan, and Vicki (Frank) Thomas, all of Dubuque; four stepchildren, Gary (Vickie) Osthoff, Gail (Merle) Hoftender, Ginny Fett, and Gerilyn (Brad) Nederhoff; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Alys Varvel; two aunts; a niece, nephews and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
