Nettie A. Irby, 70, of 2269 St. John Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at home.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where private family services will follow.

She was born on April 2, 1934, in Augusta, Ga., daughter of Byron and Lois (Jones) Shepard. She married Gilbert Irby on Sept. 14, 1956.

She retired from Sears. She enjoyed playing the organ, crocheting and playing with her grandkids.

Surviving are her husband, Gilbert Irby, of Dubuque; her children, Susan (Daniel) Cripe, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Pamela (fiance, Jeff Holz) Moore, of Cascade, Iowa, Victor (Margie) Irby, of Mobile, Ala., and Patsy Meyer, of Dubuque; two brothers, Jimmy (Eudonice) Shepard, of Panama City, Fla., and Billy (Charlotte) Shepard, of Ashburn, Ga.; five sisters, Connie (Joe) Cox, of Thomasville, Ga., Patti (Julien) Duberry, Juanita (Ray) Smith and Lois (Don) Herring, all of Bainbridge, Ga., and Betty (Mack) Smith, of Shipley, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Sarah, Jesse, Annah, Dacy, Holly, Joann, Natalie, Christopher, Charles and Maria; and four great-grandchildren, Keira, Logan, Brandon and Mahala.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Timothy; and a brother, Byron Shepard Jr.
