Edwin C. Vondran, 79, of Henderson, Nev., formerly of Dubuque, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, in Henderson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Egelhof Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque, where there will be a flag presentation by the American Legion Post 6 of Dubuque.

Mr. Vondran worked at Freddies Body Shop, Chicago, for 32 years before his retirement in 1986.

He was born on July 14, 1923, in Kieler, Wis., son of William and Magdeline (Wilhelm) Vondran.

He married Margaret Sprague in January 1948, in St. Louis, Mo.; she died on June 11, 1984. He later married Evelyn Sprague on April 13, 1985, in Dubuque.

He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also was a member of the Dubuque Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are five sons, Theodore (Joan) Ferring, of Columbus, Ga., Robert Ferring, of Martinez, Calif., Edward (Linda) Vondran, of Las Vegas, Nev., and William Vondran and Joseph (Chris) Vondran, both of Chicago; three stepsons, Leslie (Myrtle) Montag, of Hoffman Estates, Ill., and Larry Montag and John (Misty) Montag, both of Palm Bay, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Dorothy (John) Morales and Beverly (David) Johnson, both of Palm Bay, Fla.; two brothers, Robert (Vivian) Vondran, of Potosi, Wis., and Harold Vondran, of Lowell, Ark.; and a sister, Eileen Meisenburg, of Miami, Okla.
