Kathleen R. "Kathy" Hemmer, 61, of 2955 Kaufmann, No. 307, died at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at home of natural causes

Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Faith Temple United Pentecostal Church, 12805 Seippel Road, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Oct. 5, 1949, in Dubuque, daughter of George B. and Charlotte M. (Patterson) Mullady. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. She then attended Capri Cosmetology College.

She married Anthony E. Hemmer at Sacred Heart Church in 1969.

Kathy was employed at Frommelt Industries as a seamstress for 15 years until her retirement.

In her spare time, Kathy loved to get in the car and go for a ride. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially walking down by the river with her friend, Rick, conversations with her friend, Katie Sawvel, every night and spending time with her grandchildren. Her true passion was her daughter, Jennifer. She was very involved with the 50+ group at Faith Temple United Pentecostal Church. In her younger years she liked to go fishing. Kathy was a very talented seamstress and even made clothing without using a pattern.

Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Wernimont, of Dubuque; three grandchildren, Jalee, Cody and Alea; three step-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mitchell and Myles; very special friend, Rick Perry, of Dubuque; two sisters, Judy Hall, of Dubuque, and Patricia J. Strang, of Galena, Ill.; two brothers, Judd Mullady, of Haines, Alaska, and Shannon Mullady, of Hebron, Maine; her former husband, Anthony E. Hemmer, of Dubuque; many nieces and nephews; and her many friends at St. Mary's Apartments.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, James Hall.

A Kathleen R. "Kathy" Hemmer Memorial Fund has been established.
