George B. Mullady, 87, of Heritage Manor Nursing Home, formerly of 8901 Elmwood Road, died at 11:50 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at Heritage Manor.

Private family services will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a private family visitation after noon today. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque.

Mr. Mullady was employed around the river and on river boats because he loved the river. He later worked as a custodian for various companies in the Dubuque area.

He was born on March 30, 1917, in Dubuque, son of Leo B. and Marie S. (Schmidt) Mullady. He married Charlotte Patterson on Nov. 1, 1939, in Manchester, Iowa.

He built his own home with the help of his family. He formerly enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are three daughters, Judith E. Hall, of Asbury, Iowa, Patricia J. Strang, of East Dubuque, Ill., and Kathleen R. Hemmer, of Dubuque; two sons, Judd R. Mullady, of Haines, Ala., and Shannon M. Mullady, of Hebron, Maine; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Connie (Robert) McCauley, of Cambria, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Mullady; and a sister, Ellen Newt.

A George B. Mullady Memorial Fund has been established.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque and the nurses and staff of Heritage Manor for their care and concern for George.
