Marcella Giellis, 78, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 3935 Sunlight Ridge, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Stonehill Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Hoffmann-Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m.today at the funeral home.

She was born on Aug. 20, 1931, in Dubuque, daughter of Clarence and Viola (Gross) Kramer. She married John Giellis on October 4, 1990, in Rock Island, Ill.; he preceded her in death on June 24, 2006.

Marcella worked for many years at John Deere Dubuque Works.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marcella enjoyed spoiling her beloved dog, Charlie.

Surviving are her children; Connie (Ronald) Priebe, of Rockford, Marcia (Linus Dalsing) Hahlen, of Fort Worth, Texas, Tracy (Douglas) Sveum, of Sun Prairie, Wis., Jody (Thomas Jr.) Remakel, of Hampshire, Ill., Edward (Barbara) Luedtke, of Scotch Grove, Iowa, Michael (Lisa) Luedtke, of Wautauga, Texas, and Douglas (Sherry) Luedtke, of Knoxville, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a very special niece, Becky Gilbertson; three brothers, Wayne (Dorothy) Kramer, Clarence Jr. (Shirley) Kramer and William (Cheryl) Kramer, all of Dubuque; five sisters, Mary Kay McElmell, of Mission Viejo, Calif., Shirley (Jim) Jones, of Dubuque, Judy (Tom) Priebe, of Rockford, Sandra (Mike) Kapparos, of Dubuque, and Linda (Terry) Weidemann, of Dubuque; and a sister-in-law, Emma Kramer, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, LaVerne Kramer.
