Dubuque Telegraph-Herald on September 13, 1943 (p. 10).

Mrs. Mary Duschen, 85, widow of Peter Duschen, died Monday morning at 5 o’clock at St. Anthony’s Home after an illness of three weeks.

The remains are at the Hoffman Mortuary. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 7 o’clock at the Holy Family Church at the Monastery. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery at the Monastery.

Mrs. Duschen was born in Dubuque, Ia., 85 years ago, the daughter of John and Bridget McGreavey pioneers in Dubuqueland. She was a lifelong resident of the county, residing in Dubuque for the last ten years. Prior to that time the Duschen family farmed near Bernard.

She was a member of the Catholic Church and also of the Rosary Society and the Sacred Heart league.

Survivors are three sons, Joseph J. Duschen, of Midlothian, Ill., George Duschen, Peosta, Ia., and William Duschen, Waterloo, and several grandchildren.
