Patrolman Eldon W. Kane, 47, 1125 Cleveland Avenue, a member of the Dubuque Police Department for 15 years, died Saturday morning, at 2:30 o’clock at Mercy Hospital after an illness of 16 days’ duration. The remains are at Hoffman Mortuary where friends may call beginning Sunday afternoon. The funeral will be held at St. Columbkille’s Church and burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Chief of Police, Joe Strub, described Eldon Kane as a man who would be deeply missed by the department, an efficient officer who had been paid high tribute of on many occasions ‘for his courtesy and consideration displayed in the line of duty.’ Mr. Kane was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, a veteran of the First World War.

On April 16, 1923, he was married to Miss Marcella Mary O’Brien, who survives, as do the following other close relatives; Three daughters, Irene Kane, Benita, and Carol Kane, all at home, two sons, Private Richard J. Kane, New Orleans, La., and Walter J. Kane, at home.
