John Edward Fawcett passed away Saturday, May 16, 1936, at 12:30 o’clock noon, after a lingering illness. The deceased was born on Sept. 10, 1866, in Grant Co. Wisconsin. He came as an infant with his parents to Dubuque, the late Edward and Phyllis Fawcett, and had been a resident of Dubuque Co., practically since. He did farming in his early manhood and had been retired for the last 24 years. Mr. Fawcett was a member of the Grandview Methodist Church.

His many friends will learn with regret of his passing, as he was a good citizen, neighbor and father. On Sept. 10, 1890, he was united in marriage to Miss Melvina Cottingham who survives him with five children. Roscoe Fawcett and Mrs. Charles (Melvina) Kennedy, Peosta, Ia., Mrs. Glenn (Juanita) Hartong, Toledo, Ia., Mrs. Robert (Mona) Smith, Lamont, Ia., and Winfield Fawcett, Brooklyn, Ia.; five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Cottingham, Fennimore, Wisc., and Mrs. John Isborn, Saffon, Ariz., and one brother Thomas Fawcett, San Diego, Calif.

His body is resting at the family home, 1725 Delhi Street, where friends may call from Sunday noon.

The funeral will be held Monday afternoon with a short service at the home at 2 o’clock to Grandview Methodist Church at 2:30 o’clock. The Rev. H. H. Temple will officiate. Interment will be in Center Grove.
