Mrs. Mary Melvina Fawcett, 84, formerly of 1725 1/2 Delhi Street, died at 2:25 a.m. Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Smith, Lamont, Iowa, after an extended illness. She was the widow of John E. Fawcett.

Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the Egelhof Funeral Home, from where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grandview Methodist Church.

The Rev. Rolin G. Oswald, pastor, will officiate at services and at burial in Center Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Fawcett was born Jan. 30, 1872, in Dubuque County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Cottingham. She lived here all of her life. She was married Sept. 11, 1890 in Dubuque. Her husband died in 1936. She was a member of Grandview Church.

Surviving besides her daughter Mrs. Smith are two other daughters, Mrs. Charles (Melvina) Kennedy, Epworth, and Mrs. Glenn (Juanita) Hartong, Mt. Vernon, Iowa; two sons, Roscoe Fawcett, Manchester, Ia., and Winfield Fawcett, Brooklyn, Ia, and one brother Thomas Cottingham, Nampa, Idaho; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
