Amelia R. Shanahan, 90, 1808 First Ave. NE, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1993, in her niece's Waterloo home after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Turner Chapel East, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial: Linwood Cemetery. The Rev. John Wesley Blackmon Jr. will officiate.
Survivors include a sister, Beatrice Freeman of Renton, Wash.
Also surviving are three nieces, Shirley Thomas of Waterloo, Patricia Lee of Cedar Rapids and Alice Thomas of Renton, Wash.; and a nephew, Donald Thomas of Waterloo.
The daughter of Allan and Olevia Milagen Robison, Amelia was born Aug. 2, 1903, in Aberdeen, Miss. She married John Shanahan on Nov. 5, 1939, in Minnesota. He preceded her in death. Amelia was a dietitian at Woolworth's Department Store for more than 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of Bethel (A.M.E.) Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to Blackhawk County Hospice.
