RICKARDSVILLE, Iowa - Clement E. Gansemer, 75, of 21747 Park Hollow Road, (Rickardsville) Holy Cross, died at 8:45 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rickardsville, with the Rev. Michael Podhajski officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Farley American Legion Post 656 and the Dubuque County Amvet Post 13. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Reiff Funeral Home, Epworth, where there will be a wake service at 2 p.m. and the Farley American Legion Service and the Dubuque County Amvet Post 13 service at 6 p.m.

He was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Rickardsville, son of Nicholas and Marie (Ritt) Gansemer. On April 23, 1957, he was united in marriage to Theresa M. Bergfeld at St. Joseph's Prairie, in rural Dubuque.

He farmed in the Rickardsville area until his retirement in 1993.

He received his education in the Cottage Hill School and St. Joseph's School, in Rickardsville.

He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.

Clement was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, in Rickardsville, a member of the Farley American Legion-Post 656, a member of the Amvets-Post 13, of Dubuque County, and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Surviving are his wife, Theresa Gansemer, of Rickardsville; six children, Francis (Deb) Gansemer, of Asbury, Judy (Gerald E.) Breitsprecker, of Lancaster, Wis., Janet Engelken (friend, Kenny Ruden), Jane Geselbracht and Jody (Merlin) Tucker, all of Rickardsville, and Joan (Porfirio) Fuentes, of Starkville, Miss.; 22 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Eilleen (Florian "Tex") Winter, of St. Lucas; and a sister-in-law, Helen Gansemer, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Albert Gansemer.

A Clement E. Gansemer Memorial Fund has been established.
