Florence E. Gansemer, 92, of 2532 Washington St., died at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 6:30 p.m.

Mrs. Gansemer was employed for many years at the Canfield Hotel. She also was a foster grandparent at Hills and Dales for more than 15 years.

She was born on Oct. 14, 1913, in Dubuque, daughter of Richard and Catherine (Vorman) Rank. She married Gilbert Gansemer on Nov. 8, 1932, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dubuque.

Florence attended Sacred Heart School in Dubuque.

She liked playing cards, bingo and going to garage sales. She especially enjoyed her family.

Surviving are a daughter, Joann Gulick, of Dubuque; a son, Richard (Virginia) Gansemer, of Mendota, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Gansemer; eight grandchildren, Janelle (Kevin) Lynch, Jon Gulick, Jennifer (Michael) Murphy, Jacqueline Gulick, Tracy Fink, Deanna Gansemer, Beverly (Paul) O'Halloran and David Gansemer; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Gilbert Gansemer; a son, Roger Gansemer; a son-in-law, James Gulick; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Al and Dorothy Tramm, Arnold and Hazel Hipschen, Joseph and Lucille Guilford and Roy and Thelma Young; and a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Pearl Rank.

A Florence E. Gansemer Memorial Fund has been established.
