Luise B. Heil, 92, of Luther Manor, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Luther Manor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

She was born on May 25, 1909, in Guttenberg, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Mary (Putzier) Madden. She married the late Milton W. Heil on Dec. 20, 1933, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garnavillo, Iowa.

Luise had been a longtime member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and active in many of the Women's Groups. She also had been a member of the Finley Auxiliary, Luther Manor Auxiliary and RSVP.

Luise volunteered much of her time helping others in the community and was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award by the governor. She had worked with the Republican Party, Girl Scouts, Foster Grandparents, tutoring at St. Mark's Community Center, the Ham House Museum, adult literacy tutoring and was a past president of the Audubon PTA.

Luise also enjoyed crocheting, reading and traveling as much as she did helping those around her.

Surviving are her children, Jean Ballew, Robert (Jean) Heil, and William (Roni) Heil, all of Dubuque, and Virginia Danielson, of Anamosa, Iowa; two sisters, Darlene (Leon) Troester, of Guttenberg, and LaVonne Bahls, of Garnavillo; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton W. Heil; two brothers, William Madden and Robert Geuder; two sisters, Mildred and Phyllis Madden; two infant grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Amelda Madden.

Memorials may be made to Luther Manor, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Wartburg Theological Seminary and an organization of your choice.

Thank you to all the staff and friends at Luther Manor and the staff on 3 Medical and the Summit Unit at Finley Hospital.
