Michael D. Oldham, 62, of 3020 W. 32nd St., died at 9 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2000, at home, after a short illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Garden Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a Holy Ghost Parish scripture wake service at 3 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus Council 510 will recite the rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Oldham was an assembler and foreman at John Deere Dubuque Works for 34 years, retiring in 1992. He most recently worked in staff management at John Deere and coordinated tours at the plant.

He was born on May 29, 1938, in Charles City, Iowa, son of Francis L. and Edith (Murray) Oldham. He married Elizabeth "Darlene" Rayhons on June 1, 1959, in Duncan, Iowa.

He was raised in Charles City and moved to Dubuque in 1956, where he attended Loras College.

He was a member of Holy Ghost Parish, John Deere Supervisors Club, John Deere "I" Club, the Knights of Columbus Council 510 and the Fourth Degree Doubourg Assembly. He enjoyed golfing and playing bridge.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth "Darlene" of Dubuque; his children, Pamela Oldham, of Muscatine, Iowa, Michael (Mary) Oldham, of Dubuque, David (Debra) Oldham, of Anamosa, Iowa, and Kevin (Venita) Oldham, of Sterling, Ill.; grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Emily, Abigail and Alexandria Oldham; brothers, Jack (Barb) Oldham, of Mason City, Iowa, Alan (Marian) Oldham, of Billings, Mont., Richard (Peggy) Oldham, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Paul (Janet) Oldham, of Algona, Iowa; sisters, Cathy (Larry) Phearman, of Mason City, Sister Francesca Oldham, of Cedar Rapids, and Imelda (Chuck) Housh, of Chicago; and a sister-in-law, Edith (Bud) Oldham-Schon, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Joe Oldham; and a sister, Sister MaryEllen Oldham.

A Michael D. Oldham Memorial Fund has been established.

The Oldham family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Medical Associates, the Oncology Department and Hospice of Dubuque for all their care, and also all the friends who visited, sent cards and remembered Mike in their prayers.
