Carolyn L. McGloughlin, 81, of Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Dubuque, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Services were held in Peoria, Ariz. Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, Dubuque.

She was born on Oct. 9, 1929, in Dubuque, daughter of Louis and Caroline Kolfenbach. She married James McGloughlin on Oct. 6, 1951.

Carolyn was a devoted mother and grandmother. She always put others above herself. She loved God, family and friends and all were invited to frequent parties, dinners, picnics, reunions and vacations. She was a great hostess and typically the life of the party. Her passion for life was evident during cross-town bike rides, tennis and card games, while eating M&Ms, or cheering for the Loras Duhawks. She was an active volunteer and lived to serve the needy.

Surviving are her husband of 59 years, James McGloughlin; children, Colleen (Scott) Siefken, of Asbury, Iowa, Sharon (Mike) McGarvey, David (Ana) McGloughlin and Glen (Denise) McGloughlin, all of Phoenix, and Anne McGloughlin, of Oxnard, Calif.; grandchildren, Jose, Nicole, Mariah, Makayla, Tucker, Carly and Jamison; and a sister, Midge Spaulding, of Port Richie, Fla.

Memorials may be given to St. Vincent De Paul Society, in care of the Saint Joachim and Anne Church, 11625 N. 111th Ave., Sun City, AZ 85351.
