Hanging
~
About 9 o’clock yesterday afternoon the lifeless body of August Wallin was found hanging to a large pile on the river bank at the foot of Seventeenth Street. The coroner was immediately notified, and summoned a jury composed of T. J. Conlin and August Duccini, held an inquest. The jury found a verdict in accordance with the facts, that deceased, while temporarily insane, came to his death by hanging. Wallis, who was about 55 years old, boarded at the Berliner Hof. 996 Clay Street, which place he left about 9 o’clock on the day before he was found, saying to some of the boarders that he intended to shoot himself. He had been employed as a blacksmith at the Milwaukee shops until four months ago when he was laid off. The same day he left the hotel to commit the deed he was sent for to go to work but could not be found.

Deceased leaves a wife and three children, who have for some time been living with some friends at Earlville. The family came to this country from Bavaria, Germany, only about one year ago.
