SUFFOCATED BY GAS
~
A YOUNG MAN FROM ACROSS THE RIVER
MEETS DEATH IN CHICAGO
~
Louis Miller, aged 20 years, son of John F. Miller, a farmer whose place adjoins that of Mr. Frentress below East Dubuque, was found dead in bed at a hotel in Chicago Friday morning. He had been suffocated by gas. His father, who occupied the same room, was well high overcome, being resuscitated with much difficulty.

Mr. Miller and son departed for the fair last Tuesday night in company with Mr. and Mrs. Thill, of East Dubuque. The party stopped at a hotel of a former Galenian, John Huessick, and 1196 Blue Island Avenue. The news of the fatality was conveyed in a telegram to Harry Thill to his father Mr. Nic. Thill of East Dubuque. Mr. Thill departed for Chicago yesterday in company with Mrs. Miller and Dr. Hilgendorf to bring the body of the boy home.

John Miller, the father of deceased, is perhaps the wealthiest farmer in Dunleith Township, owning a large farm and spacious buildings adjoining Frentress place, near the Illinois Central Railroad, this side of East Dubuque, says the Galena Gazette. He was a man of intelligence, and had been to Chicago many times with livestock. His knowledge of the world and general information leads us to believe it was not a case of blowing out the gas. The telegram is brief, giving only the bare facts. The sudden news of the young man’s death will be a severe blow to his mother and other members of the family. The family is well known and highly respected.
