DEATH CLAIMED HER
~
A Former Dubuque Lady Dies at
Memphis, Tenn.— Her Remains
to Be Brought Here
~
The news of the death of Mrs. Anna Alberta Linehan came yesterday as a sudden and painful surprise to her family and friends in this city. The event was wholly unexpected as Mrs. Linehan was known to be in perfect health as the latest advices from her were brought by relatives who recently saw her well and happy at her home in St. Louis. In the absence of any details but this announcement of her death and the preparations be made for the funeral, conveyed by telegraph, it can only be surmised that the death of Mrs. Linehan death was very sudden and unexpected and in all probability, may have resulted from the terrible heat which has prevailed and caused so many fatalities in St. Louis during the past ten days. The event has caused mush wide spread sorrow and regret among the members of the large family circle and many friends who cherish tender memories of a young woman whose happy and blameless life was spent in this city.

Mrs. Linehan was born and reared in Dubuque and received a through education in the Catholic schools of this city and graduated with honors from the Academy of the Visitation. She was the fifth daughter of Mr. David Crotty and hers is the first death that has invaded the home circle since that of her mother, which occurred over thirty years ago. The family had grown up in an atmosphere of unity and affection which makes the parting of one of its best beloved members the more poignant in its sorrow, the more painful in its suddenness with which the blow has fallen upon those bereaved.

Mrs. Linehan was a devout and consistent exemplar of the religious faith she professed and it all the walks of life carried its hallowing influences with her. Always kind and considerate to those about her, her presence diffused sunshine in the home and among the friends who will carry pleasant recollections in their hearts of her life among them, long after years have laid their flowers and their sorrow in altering seasons upon the grave.

Mrs. Linehan was married in September, 1893, to Mr. Dennis J. Linehan. They went immediately to Cape Girardo, Mo. Which city was their home until December, where they removed to St. Louis, where Mr. Linehan was largely interesting in the shipping business with Mr. B. E. Linehan, of this city. Mrs. Linehan is survived by her sister, Misses Minnie, Katherine, Bridget, Elizabeth and Helen, and also one brother, David J. Crotty, who owing to illness, will not be able to be present at his sisters funeral, which will take place from the Cathedral at 9 o’clock tomorrow morning.
