Vincent J. "Buck" Bahl, 87, of 3377 Starlite Drive, died at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Luther Manor, with his family by his side.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish wake service at 5 p.m.
He was born on Aug. 2, 1918, in Asbury, Iowa, son of Jacob and Frances (Tuel) Bahl. He married Eileen Siegert on June 3, 1942, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Dubuque.

Mr. Bahl farmed for many years in the Center Grove area. He retired from farming in 1959, and went into the construction industry. After building his own home, Vince worked for Conlon Construction, Conrad Construction and Del Miller and Sons Construction until his retirement. After retiring, he assisted his son and grandson in constructing their homes, as well as maintaining a workshop in his garage, where he spent much of his time making wooden crafts for his wife, children and grandchildren.

Vince was a charter member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Dubuque.
He loved to watch bull riding and was an avid Cubs fan. His favorite pastime was visiting with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-grandpuppy, Duke.

Vince was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He had a gentle spirit and was loved by all. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Eileen; three children, Beverly (Jerry) Pfab, of Glendale, Ariz., Ron (Roxanne) Bahl, of Dubuque, and Terry (Barb) Bahl, of Peosta, Iowa. Vincent also had eight grandchildren, Lori (Shawn) Bomar, of Hesperenia, Calif., Kathy (Joey) Phillips, of Wittman, Ariz., Jodi (Eric) Pfab-Breyfogle, of Waddell, Ariz., Mary (Tim) White-Bahl, Kristy (Chad) Fenwick and Katie Bahl, all of Dubuque, Brian (Jamie) Bahl, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Beth (Brian) Cupps, of Epworth, Iowa; nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Kathryn; Jerry and Joey; Jacob; Haley, Justin and Emily; and Aubrey; as well as two stepgreat-grandchildren, Brittany and Max; and three great-grandchildren arriving soon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Rupert, Milton, Lester (Lucille) and Gilbert (Helen); and three sisters, Elaine Bahl, Thelma (Fred) Ehrlich and Francis (Thomas) McGrath.
A Vincent J. Bahl Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank the staff of both Luther Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for their kind and loving care.
