Francis Paul Brosius, 93, formerly of Primrose St, Dubuque, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at Bethany Home, surrounded by his family.

Francis was born on August 25, 1922 in Dubuque, son of John and Margaret (Mersch) Brosius. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and Bayless Business College.

On August 16, 1945, he married Marion Link at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She preceded him in death in 2008.

Francis served in the Army Medical Corp for three years during World War II and was a member of Dubuque American Legion Post #6. He was also a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Knights of Columbus #510, and Catholic Order of Foresters Court #811.

He worked as Deputy Auditor for Dubuque County and also as the Dubuque County Assessor. For many years he worked at St. Mary’s Credit Union before retiring as manager in 1985. He was better known as “Friendly Fran the Finance Man”. Francis also served on the Board of Directors of the State and National Credit Union Leagues.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marion; brothers Harold (Leona) Specht and Rev. Alfred Brosius; a sister Lucille (Ollie) Airheart; and great granddaughter Jessica Neuses.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Holy Spirit Parish, Hospice of Dubuque, or Bethany Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 27 at Holy Spirit Parish – Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Fr. Dwayne Thoman officiating. Entombment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bethany Home for their exceptional care and love they provided our dad, and to Pat Oppelt, forever a family friend.
