Mrs. Frank Palen Dies Following Long Illness

Mrs. Frank Palen, 71, died Thursday afternoon, Jan 15th, at the hospital here (Caledonia,MN) after an illness of several months.

Florence Nicks, daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Mueller) Nicks of Dubuque,Iowa, was born at Dubuque Dec. 11,1870. She was married to Frank Palen, a photographer here, on Oct 17,1900 at St. Mary's Catholic church in Dubuque and has lived here since that time. Her husband died 11 years ago (April 4,1931)

Survivors include seven children: Lt. Julius Palen, with the Navy out of Seattle, Wash., Dr. Cyril E. Palen of Milwaukee, Wis., Clarence J. Palen of Colorado Springs, Colo., Victor at home, Mrs. E. W. Dennison of Jefferson S. Dak., Beatrice, a nurse in New York City, and Delores, an instructor at Wayzata; two sisters, Mrs. Samuel Hall of Chicago and Mrs.(sic) Elizabeth Nicks of Dubuque; and four(sic) brothers, Nicholas, Joseph, Paul and Peter of Dubuque, Ben of Shawnee, Kans., and eight grandchildren.

She was a charter member of the local court No. 555 Catholic Daughters of America and a member of St. Mary's Altar Society of St. Peter's Catholic church here.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Peter's church, the Rev. A. E. Wermerskirchen officiating. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery.
