Epworth, Iowa - Robert L. pierce, 77, of Epworth, went to his eternal rest Peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday morning, Nov. 9,2004 after gallantly fighting vascualr disease for the past 30 years.

Services will be at 1;30 p.m. at United Methodist Church, Epworth, with the Rev. Terri Elder officiating.The family will be at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday for visitation. His created remains will be buried at a later date.

Mr. Pierce worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 30 eyars, retiring as a supervisor in November 1997.

He was born on Aug. 2, 1927, in Strawberry Point, son of Harry and Gladys (Whitlock) Pierce. He married Patricia L. Tallman on Dec. 24, 1950, at the Epworth Methodist Church; she preceded him in death on July 20, 1962. He then married Theresa "Pat" Eichacker on Feb. 16, 1963, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Guttenberg.

He served in the Air Force.

He was a member of United Methodist Church and the Julien Masonic Lodge 551. He served as a councilman for the city of Epworth.

Bob loved life, his God, his family, a proud father and grandfather. He was a quiet, gentle man with a rare and unique sense of humor. He enjoyed hunting trips with his brothers, winters in Florida with his wife, and in recent years, just being in God's nature fishing with his buddies. He was an avid reader and trevelled many places without ever leaving his recliner.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Pat,of Epworth; four children, Connie (Terry) McDermott and Don (Michele) Pierce, both of Epworth, Sherie (Greg) Kuhlmann, of Peosta, and Bob Pierce II, of Dubuque; three brothers, Tom (Dot) Pierce, of Mount Dora, Fla, and Dick (Sandy) Pierce and Jerry Pierce, both of Guttenberg; five sisters, Jane (Dale) Sweet and Rita Hefel, both of Giard, Jean (Ed) Wall, of Epworth, Vera (Darwin Goeschel) Finzel, of Dubuque, and Donna (Mike) Lutz, of Bull Head City, Ariz; nine grandchildren, Tara, Eric, and Leah McDermott, Samantha Hollenback, Josh Peirce, Emily and Ben Kuhlmann, and Savanna and Madeline Pierce; a great grandson, Jack McDermott; a very special former daughter-in-law, Jennifer; three sisters-in-law, Rose Feldman, of Monticello, Helen Niday, of Dubuque, and Gloria Pierce, of Guttenberg; and a brother-in-law, Bob (Ann) Eichacker, of Dubuque.

He was also preceded in death by sisters, Myrt Kruse and Martha, in infancy; two brothers, Perry and Bill Pierce.
