Dubuque Telegraph Herald - Thursday May 16, 1918 - Mrs Mary Bauman passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs Ben Witter, in Sherrills Wednesday night at 7 after a short illness.

The deceased was 85 years of age having been born in Germany Dec 26, 1832. She came to America in 1852 and was married to John Bauman at Baltown, Iowa that same year, where she lived until Feb 1909 when she came to reside with her daughter, Mrs Witter at Sherrills.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1899. She leaves two sons: John and Charles of Vancouver, WA and four daughters: Bertha of Potosi, WI; Katherine of Storm Lake; and Mary and Elizabeth.

The funeral will be held Saturday morning from the residence to Sherrills M.E. Church at 10 with interment at the adjoining cemetery.
