Joan M. (Donahue) Gatena, 68, of Winnetka, Calif., formerly of Dubuque, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 4300 Asbury Road, Dubuque. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa.

She was born on March 25, 1936, in Dubuque, daughter of Thomas and Mary Donahue.

She was a resident of Winnetka for 28 years, and worked as a drivers' examiner with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Joan was very involved at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Winnetka, where she helped run the gift shop. She also was very involved with fund-raisers at the Winnetka DMV. She enjoyed making food for the local fire station, and loved to travel.

Surviving are her children, Gary (Judy) Gatena, Tim Gatena and Julie Gatena; grandchildren, Steven and Kaitlyn; sisters, Rita Mitchell and Rosie Kahler; her twin brother, John Donahue; and a sister-in-law, Janelle Donahue.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn; her parents, Thomas and Mary Donahue; and brothers, Joseph and David Donahue.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Care Hospice, 10200 Sepulveda, Mission Hills, Calif., 91345.
