John Geary, a citizen of Cascade for the past thirty-three years, died early Sunday morning at his residence in this city after a brief illness. Mr. Geary was born in county Limerick, Ireland, in 1842 and was consequently 56 years old. In early life with his mother he removed to London, England, and there resided until manhood. In that city he was married to Katherine Duggan. The continued to live there a number of years, and three children, Michael, Patrick and Maggie were born to them in the big English city.
In 1865 with his family Mr. Geary embarked for the United States, and that same year located in Cascade, where he had resided up to the time of his death. He followed the occupation of plasterer and calciminer. His wife died May 25, 1885, in this city, and his daughters Maggie and Katie some years later.

There survive him, of his own family, his children, Michael, Patrick, Richard and Jimmie of Cascade; Thomas of Leighton; his brother, Richard, of Parkersburg, and his sister, Mrs. William Maulane, of Ackley. Both of the latter attended the funeral.

The obsequies were held Monday morning at St. Martin’s church, and were largely attended. The surviving children desire to return their sincere thanks to many kind friends for assistance rendered during the last illness and death of their father.
