Thomas J. Meyer, 68, of 17675 River Vista Court, died Saturday morning, June 22, 2002, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 3:30 p.m.

Mr. Meyer worked at John Deere Dubuque Works, retiring in May 1986. He was then employed part time at Betty Jane Candy Co.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1933, in Dubuque, son of Paul and Margaret (Klein) Meyer. He married Glendoris Dolan on May 9, 1964, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Dubuque; she died on May 28, 1998.

He graduated from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He was a member of the Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He also was a member of Holy Ghost Parish.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and especially enjoyed miniature golf and his Dairy Queen trips with the grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, leather crafting, fishing and camping with his family.

Surviving are two daughters, Maria (Dr. Michael) Fleege and Jennifer Meyer, both of Dubuque; grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas and Lauren Fleege and Alexandria Meyer; a brother, Paul (Mary) Meyer, of Carlsbad, Calif.; and a sister, Doris (Robert) Nelson, of Fort Dodge, Iowa.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Faith and Hope Fleege; and a brother, James Meyer.

A Thomas Meyer Memorial Fund has been established.

The family wishes to thank Laura Murphy and Dr. William J. Dall for the care and concern shown to Dad.
