Florence M. (O'Hearn) Lytle 1915-2007

Florence M. Lytle, 91, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 611 S. Grandview Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at the care center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Lytle worked at the former Sullivan's Grocery Store for more than 10 years.

She was born on March 16, 1915, in Rickardsville, Iowa, daughter of Martin and Mary (Duehr) O'Hearn.

Florence was born and raised in Rickardsville, where she attended St. Joseph School.

She married Joseph Lytle on May 24, 1945, at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on April 16, 1991.

She was a member of St. Columbkille's Parish and its Rosary Society.

Florence was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother who cared deeply about her family.

Other than spending special times with her family, Florence was an avid golfer and a member of the Galena Golf Club. She also was a past member of the Letter Carrier's Association. Playing cards, flower gardening and watching the Chicago Cubs were some of Florence's favorite pastimes.

Surviving are her children, Barbara (Bill) Kelzer, of Dubuque, Joseph C. (Sue) Lytle Jr., of Geneva, Ill., James M. (Luanne) Lytle, of Coralville, Iowa, and Patricia A. (Curt) Ouellette, of Dubuque; 14 grandchildren, Sherry (Keith) Babb, Lori (Todd) Neece, Lynn (Paul) Zwack, Tom (Kim) Kelzer, Andy, Erin and Ryan Lytle, Stacy (Craig) Schroeder, Jolene (Marcus Haggerty) Lytle, Tara (Jason) Wolbers, Christopher (Vanessa) Ouellette, Nicholas (Julie) Ouellette, Bridget (Chad) Hamilton and Elizabeth (Dr. Austin) Reed; 13 great-grandchildren, Heather, David, Sarah, Natalie, Austin, Cody, Haley, Abigail, Dylan, Marlie, Landon, Emry and Jackson; a great-great-granddaughter, Makayla; and a sister, Agnes Stoffel, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; twin grandsons, Andrew Michael and Ryan Matthew; two brothers, Joseph Hutton and James O'Hearn; and two sisters, Isabelle Kraker and Winifred McFarland.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 5900 Saratoga Road, Dubuque, Iowa 52002 and to St. Columb-kille's, Church, 1240 Rush St., Dubuque, Iowa 52003.

The Lytle family wishes to thank the nurses and staff on 3 South at Stonehill Care Center for their compassion, care and support.
