Old Resident Summoned

John M. Kenny Died at His Home in Dubuque Thursday

John M. Kenny, former well known resident of Temple Hill, died at his home in Dubuque Thursday morning. He had been in ill health for several years.

Mr. Kenny was born in Washington township, Jones county, in 1845 and lived there until eight years ago when with two sisters he removed to Dubuque.

He was a man of exemplary character, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was a member of Cascade Council, Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society and the Nativity church in Dubuque.

He is survived by four sisters, Misses Julia and Angie, of Dubuque; Miss Mary and Mrs. W. J. Burke, of Cascade, two brothers, Joseph B. and Edward, of Cascade, a nephew and three nieces. His parents, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.

The funeral was held Saturday morning from the family residence, 1003 West Fifth street, to Nativity church at 9:30 o'clock, where Rev. Supple, a cousin of the deceased, sang the requiem high Mass. He also said prayers at the graveside in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Rev. Kerper preached a sermon at the conclusion of the Mass.

The pallbearers were Herman Welter, James and Frank Skahill, George Graham, Michael Ronan and Neil Heritz.

Additional information:

Census records indicate birth year as about 1856 rather than 1845.

Compliments of Joseph Cahill
