Gwendolyn C. "Gwen" Crowley, 86, of 3129 Hillcrest Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on July 15, 1915, in Dubuque, daughter of Patrick and Catherine (Kelly) Crowley. She has lived in Dubuque all her life and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. She worked at Medical Associates for many years. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony's Parish, and its rosary society. She was involved in volunteer work for the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens and in later years enjoyed golfing with her sister, Peg. She was an avid bridge player and a member of the American Contract Bridge League, from which she acquired life master status.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Dorothy Crowley, of Dubuque; seven nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Virginia Crowley, Mrs. Andrew (Modwena) Schroeder, Margaret "Peg" Crowley and Mrs. Raymond (Marie) Grimm; and two brothers, Patrick and Robert Crowley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Anthony's Church or to a charity of choice.
