The Telegraph Herald, Dubuque, February 5, 1940

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning for Mrs. Frances Chevalier, 80, a lifelong resident of Dubuque, who died Sunday morning at 11 o’clock following an illness of seven months at St. Anthony’s Home.

The body is at the Bennett and Ashworth Funeral Home, from where the funeral will be held to St. Raphael’s Cathedral Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Mrs. Chevalier was born in Key West June 15, 1859, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Thornton, pioneer residents of this county.

She was member of the Cathedral Parish and the Rosary Society, League of the Sacred Heart, and Dore Lodge, Degree and Honor.

Surviving are two sons, Charles R. Sieg, Dubuque, Joseph A. Chevalier, East Dubuque; one sister, Mrs. Thomas Barrett, Bernard; one brother, Peter Thornton; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death with her parents were her husband, Michael Chevalier, four brothers, two sisters, and one daughter.
