Mrs. Frances Nevins, Well Known Dubuque Woman, Summoned

Mrs. Frances M. Nevins died at Mercy hospital at 9 o’clock Wednesday morning, following an illness of about two weeks. Mrs. Nevins lived at St. Anthony’s home for the past five years.
The deceased was born August 21, 1861, the daughter of Edward and Mary Courtney, early pioneers of Dubuque county. With the exception of a few years, she has lived all her life in the county and city of Dubuque. She was the widow of Thomas F. Nevins, who died about eight years ago. A son, Thomas Jr., also preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Charles J., of Milwaukee, a daughter, Mrs. Loretta Conway of Prairie du Chien, two brothers, William Courtney of Waterloo, and John Courtney of St. Louis, and six grandchildren.
The passing of Mrs. Nevins brings to an end a life well and charitably lived. She will be greatly missed by a host of friends who were endeared to her by her personal charm and beautiful character. She was a devout member of the Catholic faith.
The remains are at the Hoffmann mortuary. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9 o’clock at Nativity church. Burial will be made in Mount Olivet. (Microfilm, Dubuque Library)
