Mrs. Lucy Clardy Dead

Esteemed Woman Answers the Final Summons on Sunday Morning.

Mrs. Lucy A. Clardy, wife of George Clardy (sic, Joseph T.), aged fifty years, died on Sunday morning at eight o’clock in this city, after a two weeks illness. Mrs. Clardy was born in Dubuque county, where she grew to womanhood. She was a woman held in the kindliest regard and her passing has occasioned the deepest sorrow. Possessing a most amiable disposition she won countless friends to her who will sorrow over her passing. Her life in the community was an example of goodness and her death is a distinct loss to the city.
Mrs. Clardy is survived by her husband and two sons, George of Miles City, Montana, and Joseph J. of this city; by six brothers, George, Daniel and Robert Courtney of this city, Edward of Meservey, Iowa, William of Waterloo, and John of St. Louis; by her sisters, Jane of Dubuque, Mrs. Germaine of Davenport, and Mrs. Revins (sic, Nevins) of Oelrichs (?), S.D.
The funeral will be held from the residence of Miss Jane Courtney, 230 Mount Pleasant avenue, on Tuesday morning at eight o’clock to St. Patrick’s church, thence to Mt. Olivet cemetery. (Dubuque Telegraph-Herald, July 5, 1909)
