Frederick B. Ackmann Jr., 51, 17694 S. John Deere Road, died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 1998, at Mercy Health Center St. Joseph's Unit, Dubuque.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with burial in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, and after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Frederick was employed as a tool and dye maker at the Unique Balance Co., Dubuque.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1947, in Dubuque, son of Frederick B. and Gladys E. (Gottschalk) Ackmann Sr. He married Kay E. Henry on Nov. 2, 1968, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dubuque.
He grew up in Dubuque and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1965. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and served six years in the National Guard. He enjoyed playing pool and cards with his life-long friends and camping with his family. He was a loving and supportive husband and father who participated in all family activities.
Surviving are his wife, Kay E. (Henry) Ackmann; a son, Jason F. Ackmann, of Mason City, Iowa; a daughter, Darci A. Ackmann, at home; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Marion Henry, of Platteville, Wis.; his aunt and uncle, Harold and Gloria Gottschalk, of Dubuque; and an aunt, Pearl Donatsch, of Centralia, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Paul Henry.
A Frederick B. Ackmann Jr. Memorial Fund has been established by his family.
