Harlan C. Ackerer, 86, of 3125 Pennsylvania Ave., died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at home.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road. Burial will be private. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Ackerer worked at the former Caradco Mfg. Co., Motorola and Montgomery Wards, where he retired from in 1980.

He was born on April 10, 1915, in Dubuque, son of Louis B. Ackerer and Anna (Hein) Ackerer.

He served in the Air Force from 1942-46. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed golfing and flying.

Surviving are a niece, Jeanette (William) Grupe, of Hubertus, Wis.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Ackerer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church.
