Mrs. A. S. Cota, one of Dubuque County's oldest and most estimable women, died at the home of her son, A. S. Cota, in Dubuque, Sunday morning. Mrs. Cota was born at Rising Sun, Ind., in 1818, coming with her parents, to Galena, Ill. in 1824. In 1833 she came to Dubuque and since that time had been a resident of Washington township and that city. In 1835 she was married to Anthony Cota, who preceded her in death several years ago. Mrs. Cota was the mother of ten children, four of whom survive her, Mrs. Miles Burke, Frank and Austin, of Dubuque, and Cyril, of Washington township. She was a niece of Scribe Harris and Captain Smith Harris, pioneers of Galena.
